Every grooming appointment at Mellow Fellow follows a consistent, dog-friendly process.
Most full grooms take 1 to 3 hours depending on your dog’s size, breed, coat condition, and temperament. We will give you a time estimate at drop-off. You are welcome to wait or return for pick-up — we will call when your dog is ready.

Drop-off and coat assessment
Check-In: Your groomer evaluates your dog’s coat condition, discusses the service, and notes any sensitivities or special instructions.

Potty break and settle in
Pre-Groom: Your dog gets a chance to potty and relax before the groom begins. No rushing straight to the table.

Wash and condition
Bath: Using dog-safe, breed-appropriate shampoo and conditioner. Oatmeal-based formula available for sensitive skin.

Dry and brush
Blowout: Full blowout with professional dryers. Brush-out removes loose coat and preps for cutting or finishing.

Trim, style, and detail
Finish: Haircut or scissoring, nail trim, ear and paw pad care, privates, and finishing touches.

Cologne and check-out
Exit: A finishing spritz of dog-friendly cologne or perfume. Your dog exits looking and smelling spectacular.

Regular grooming is not just about how your dog looks. It is an essential part of their health routine. Clean ears prevent infections, trimmed nails prevent joint pain, and a well-maintained coat keeps skin healthy. Our professional groomers catch issues early, so small problems never become big ones.
Coat & Skin Health
Regular brushing and bathing prevents matting, reduces shedding, and allows the skin to breathe. Caught early, coat issues are easy to fix. Ignored, they become medical problems.
Ear & Nail Health
Overgrown nails change how a dog walks and can cause joint pain over time. Ear cleaning prevents infections. Both are included in every full groom.
Early Issue Detection
Groomers often spot lumps, skin irritation, parasites, or coat abnormalities that owners miss. A regular groom is an extra set of expert eyes on your dog.
Matting fee: If your dog arrives with extreme matting, a $25 per hour fee applies. Severely matted dogs may need to be shaved down to allow healthy coat regrowth.
Flea and tick: If fleas, ticks, or lice are found, we reserve the right to treat and disinfect at an additional charge of $30.
Pricing may vary: Pricing can change based on temperament, coat condition, and time required. Your groomer will communicate any adjustments before proceeding.
