Our Policies

01. Vaccination Requirements
All dogs must be current on the following vaccines before attending any Mellow Fellow service:
- Rabies (required by law)
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough) — required for daycare and boarding
- DHPP / Distemper-Parvovirus combination
- Leptospirosis — recommended for boarding
Vaccination records can be uploaded through the Gingr app, emailed to info@mellowfellowdogs.com, or sent directly from your veterinarian. If you don't have records on hand, we can contact your vet directly.
02. Flea & Tick Policy
All dogs must be free of fleas and ticks upon arrival. Dogs found to have fleas or ticks will be safely separated and treated on site. A treatment fee of $40 applies. Dogs with recurring flea or tick issues may be temporarily restricted from group play until the issue is resolved.
We require all dogs to be on a current, veterinarian-approved flea and tick prevention plan.
03. Spay & Neuter Policy
Dogs over 8 months of age must be spayed or neutered to participate in group daycare or boarding play. Puppies 12 weeks or older may attend prior to this age if all other requirements are met. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis with veterinarian documentation.
04. Bite Policy
The safety of our staff, groomers, and every dog in our care is non-negotiable. If a dog bites a staff member, groomer, or another dog in our care and breaks skin, an automatic bite fee of $100 will be charged to the owner.
Depending on the severity of the incident, the dog may be removed from group play, sent home early, or restricted from future services. Owners are required to disclose any history of biting or aggression at the time of booking. Failure to disclose known bite history may result in immediate termination of services.
We understand that any dog can bite under the right circumstances. This policy exists to protect our team and the animals in our care, not to penalize good dogs having a bad day.
05. Temperament & Behavior
All dogs must complete a one-time Meet & Greet evaluation ($15) before attending daycare. This short supervised session allows our team to assess your dog's temperament, energy level, and social style to ensure proper playgroup placement.
Dogs showing aggressive behavior — including biting, snapping, lunging, or resource guarding — cannot be accommodated in group play. If concerning behavior occurs during a visit, the dog will be safely separated and the owner contacted immediately. Repeated or severe incidents may result in refusal of future services.
Mild anxiety or shyness is welcome, provided the dog can be handled safely. All breeds are welcome. No size restrictions.
06. Illness Policy
Dogs showing signs of illness — including coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, nasal or eye discharge, fever, or loss of appetite — will be refused entry or sent home. Dogs diagnosed with a contagious illness within 7 to 14 days of attending must notify us immediately. Dogs may return once symptoms have resolved and veterinary clearance is provided if requested.
While we maintain high cleanliness standards, exposure to illness is a risk in any group setting.
07. Daycare Policies
Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Early drop-off and late pick-up are available for $25 per hour outside of posted hours and must be pre-approved.
Reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-ins are welcome but may be turned away if daily capacity (45 dogs) has been reached. Reservations can be made up to one month in advance through the Gingr app, by calling 913.247.1000, or by emailing info@mellowfellowdogs.com.
Daycare packages expire monthly. Packages are non-refundable unless otherwise stated at time of purchase.
08. Boarding Policies
Reservations are required for boarding. We recommend booking as early as possible for holidays and peak travel periods.
Check-in and check-out are available during normal business hours. Checkout time is 12:00 PM (noon). Dogs picked up after noon will be charged a full-day daycare rate.
Extended stays longer than 7 nights will be charged to the card on file every 7 days.
Early drop-off and late pick-up outside of posted hours are available for $25 per hour with advance approval.
Holiday reservations are subject to stricter cancellation policies due to high demand. Any applicable holiday surcharges will be communicated clearly at the time of booking.
09. Cancellation Policy
We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee. Repeated no-shows may result in limited booking privileges. Emergency situations are handled with understanding on a case-by-case basis.
10. Grooming Policies
All dogs receiving grooming services must have a current Rabies vaccination on file.
Dogs must be able to be safely handled for grooming procedures. Aggressive or unsafe behavior may result in the service being stopped. Matted coats may require additional time, additional fees ($25 per hour matting fee), or may need to be shortened for the dog's comfort and health.
Pricing may vary based on temperament, coat condition, and time required. Your groomer will communicate any adjustments before proceeding.
If fleas, ticks, or lice are found during grooming, we reserve the right to treat and disinfect at an additional charge of $30.
11. Self-Wash Policies
Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations (Rabies required) to use self-wash stations. Dogs must be kept on a leash or safely contained when outside the tub. Owners are responsible for their dog at all times during the self-wash. Aggressive or unsafe behavior may result in the session being stopped. Please clean up your station area when finished.
There is no time limit on self-wash stations. We ask that you be respectful of other customers waiting for a station.
12. Overnight Monitoring
Mellow Fellow does not have staff sleeping on site overnight. Our facility is monitored by an AI-enabled camera system, motion sensors, and fire alarms throughout the night. Staff conduct a final in-person check-in on all boarding dogs at 10:00 PM each evening.
13. Emergency Protocol
In the event of a medical emergency, our trained staff will provide immediate care and contact you using the information in your Gingr profile. If veterinary care is required, we will transport your dog to your preferred veterinarian or the nearest emergency clinic following your authorization instructions. Owners are responsible for all veterinary costs. Emergency contact information can be updated in the Gingr app at any time.
14. Photo & Video Policy
By using Mellow Fellow's services, you grant permission for your dog to be photographed or recorded while at our facility. These images and videos may be used on social media, marketing materials, and our website. If you do not want your dog included in photos or videos, please notify us in writing before your dog's first visit.
15. Payment
Payment is accepted in person at the facility, online through our website, or through the Gingr app. Credit cards accepted.
